Dipping a toe in the water

I started to blog on SparkPeople some years ago. It was a way of motivating myself to lose weight and then keep my weight down while connecting with others doing the same. My favorite form of exercise is walking, which I did with a few friends and family here in Japan. We’re all seniors but we walked from 12 to 20 kilometers along the Tama River in western Tokyo. Now I’m glued to a black computer screen teaching students who keep their cameras off, and the lack of exercise is probably contributing to a bit of upward creep in weight. Got organize a solution to that.

My little grandson has started talking and I’m now “Baba,” Japanese for Gran.

  1. My beginnings with blogging are with SparkPeople too. I think it is the blogs I will miss most. There are lots of apps and web sites for tracking food but it is hard to find a place where there are blogs like on SP.

I am Judy, living in Canada, and known as Harrowjet on Spark. Walking is my favourite form of exercise too.

  2. So glad to find you here, having followed the link on the Google group for us "refugees" from SparkPeople. I'm trying to transition from Spark over to here, and also trying to preserve contact with fellow Spark graduates!

  6. Desiree, I'm glad I found you! I couldn't give up reading my favorite Spark people's blogs, so I created a google account and am so glad to see you blogging here. It's going to take me some time, too, to figure out how to use this site, but until then, I just want you to know that I'm excited to see your smiling face and know that you are happily busy!

It must feel so good to be called "Baba"!

    1. Just finished my first week of in class teaching and messing around Google. I’m so happy you came here. I hope everything is progressing well for you. We’re meeting the little family in Tokyo on Sunday. Shiro’s third time only in the role of “Jiji”.
